Holy Trinity Orthodox Mission :: About the Parish

ABOUT OUR PARISH

The Holy Trinity Mission was founded more than ten years ago with the active participation of Michael Gill (now choir director at the Chicago cathedral) and I. and L. Dolgov, under the omophor of Bishop [now Archbishop] Hilarion. During the first few years, the community was cared for by Fr. Anastasy Yatrelis, rector of Sts Cyrill and Methodius parish in Summerville, SC, and Father Nicholas Kowal. Both priests travelled long distances to come and serve.

In 2002-2003, with Bishop Gabriel's blessing, Father Viatcheslav Davidenko came from Atlanta to serve. In 2003, Fr. Viatcheslav was assigned to Canada.

In 2006, members of the community were holding weekly typica at the parish chapel. In October 2006, Fr. Alexander Logunov was appointed interim rector of the parish.

In August 2007, by the mercy of God and the aid of countless benefactors, the parish acquired property along US-70 between Efland and Mebane. The property is being converted into an Orthodox house of worship.
